About the Canadian Action Party

The Canadian Action Party has since its inception in 1997 been a strong supporter of the bank owned by the Canadian People – The Bank of Canada. We have continuously urged that our bank be used as it was between 1938 and 1974, for the benefit of the Canadian people and for building the country’s needs whether they be infrastructure such as the St Lawrence Seaway or the Trans-Canada Highway among others, or the Canada Pension Plan, our National Healthcare and start up for EI, and indeed we also used our bank to finance our WW2 efforts. The importance of this use of the Bank of Canada is most blatantly obvious in the figures of our National Debt. In 1974 when the Bank of International Settlements came calling complaining that we had an unfair advantage when it came to financing our needs and demanded that we join them and sign onto the Basel Agreements and stop using our Bank of Canada for our own use and allow foreign banks and investors to loan us money at compounding interest rates, our national debt stood at $22.6 billion. This was money we owed to ourselves at minimal interest to allow the BOC to pay for its self and the rest was returned to the Minister of Finance in the form of a dividend for the use of the Canadian People. Today there are examples of a very few countries, South Korea, Venezuela, Iran, Costa Rica and even a State in the USA – North Dakota - which have their own bank and have no debt except current needs owed to themselves and a surplus budget every year. Since 1974 our national debt has grown from $22.6 billion, to be hovering around $1 trillion today! (1) Is it any wonder that a party that believes in Canada and the Canadian people, supports the use of the Bank of Canada as mandated by the Bank of Canada ACT of 1935?

But we a not one policy party at all, we have many policies including the vital importance of the environment to the health of not only of our vital ecosystems and wildlife, but also the cleanliness of our water, air and non-toxicity of our food. We can only live 3 minutes without air, 6 days without water or 6/7 weeks without food or we die. Contaminate any of those and we are sick. At the Canadian Action Party we care about this and it is more important than profits and money. (2) We care about democracy and its imminent total demise in Canada and we believe that first step to recovering the lost ground is to have MPs who actually represent their constituents (employers) to Ottawa, not Ottawa and its Prime Minister to them. We believe in the constitution of Canada and the rights of ALL people in Canada, be they First Nations, Métis, Inuit, descendants of the European settlers of the last 150 years or today’s new Canadians, to have that right to free speech, a livelihood, a home, clean air, water and food and no tax without representation.(3) This latter means under the present system of governments in Canada that no one should pay any tax at all! We believe that our sovereignty dictates that we do not have investment agreements, disguised as trade agreements which will cause our laws and the regulations to be dictated to us by the insatiable greed of international corporations. We will cancel all such agreements including the NAFTA and FTA and start again on a trade only basis. We are a trading nation and will not be threatened into what we can and cannot do here in our own country.

We invite you to take time to get to know us, ask questions, join us and make suggestions because we are after all a party of and for the Canadian people and our members drive us with their ideas and needs.
